The Color Purple Auditions
The Garden Theatre and The Sankofa Collective will be holding auditions for The Color Purple by APPOINTMENT ONLY on Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23. In person & virtual options available.

About The Event
Initial Audition Date: Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23 from 6 pm-10pm by appointment only. Schedule here.
Dance Call: : All who audition must attend the dance call, which will also take place on April 22nd and April 23rd. Please attend the call that corresponds with your audition date that you sign up for. On April 22, the dance call will take place from 9:15pm-10pm. On April 23, the dance call will take place from 6pm-6:45pm. While not all roles will require heavy dancing, we would like to see the skill level of each person. Not a dancer? Don’t worry! Just have fun! Please dress comfortably for the dance call. Female-presenting performers should dance in heels.
Callback Date: Saturday, May 4
Audition Location: Auditions will take place at MATCH (Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston), located at 3400 Main St. Houston, TX 77002.
Virtual Auditions: The Garden Theatre will allow auditions to take place online if desired. Houston based performers should attend in-person callbacks if at all possible. If you are a college student who is not in the city at the time of callbacks, we will accept a video callback. For video submissions, please perform a 32 bar cut (approx. 30 seconds to 1 minute) of a song in the style of the show. Don’t forget to slate at the beginning of your video. Video submissions are due no later than 11:59 pm on April 21. Please upload your video to Youtube as unlisted. Please send a copy of your headshot and resume to logan@thegardentheatre.org AND sankofacollectivehouston@gmail.com. Please use the subject line The Color Purple Audition- [Your Name]. The following form will ask for your link. To submit your video and fill out your audition form, please visit this link.
Audition Requirements: Please prepare a 32 bar cut (30 seconds to 1 minute) of a song in the style of the show. You may bring either sheet music for a provided accompanist, or a track on an electronic device. If using a track, please make sure that your track is edited for your cut. No acapella singing. Please bring a copy of your headshot and resume. Please be prepared to provide any rehearsal conflicts you may have. Conflicts on performance dates are not permitted if cast.
